Sanjusangendo

Approximately 12 minutes walk

An impressive space lined with 1,000, 1,000-armed Kannon statues. It conveys the atmosphere of the Heian period, and in the silence that echoes inside the hall, you can feel the breath of prayer that transcends time. The 33 pillar spaces, from which the temple's name comes from, tell the story of its eternal history.

Kiyomizu temple

Approximately 20 minutes walk

It has been over 1250 years since its founding. Kiyomizu Temple, located halfway up Mt. Otowa, one of Kyoto's Higashiyama mountain ranges, is visited by many worshipers to enshrine the benevolent Kannon.

Yasaka Shrine

Approximately 22 minutes walk

An old shrine with a history of 1,300 years in Yasaka. It is worshiped as a god that wards off epidemics, and the Gion Festival, one of Japan's three major festivals, is held in summer with great splendor. The vermilion-painted tower gate exudes dignity as the guardian deity of Kyoto.

Approximately 20 minutes walk

The capital's red-light district, where the steps of maiko echo along the cobblestone streets. The streets are lined with historic townhouses, and the lanterns lit up as the sun goes down add color to the atmosphere of Kyoto at night. This place, where the ancient and the modern meet, conveys the culture of elegance to the present day.

Nishi Honganji Temple

About 7 minutes by bus

As the head temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect, this majestic temple continues to protect the Dharma light. The elaborate carvings on the Karamon gate and the silence of the Mieido hall testify to the depth of the faith. A great Buddhist base that watches over the city of Kyoto.

Nishiki market

About 15 minutes by bus

This market has a 400-year history as the kitchen of Kyoto. The long, narrow streets are lined with Kyoto vegetables and traditional flavors, and the eaves are lined with masterpieces that reflect Kyoto culture. In this place where vibrancy and elegance intersect, the soul of timeless food resides.

Kiyosune Netsukekan

Bus approx. 21 minutes

The mastery of craftsmanship in small crafts. It brings together the techniques and beauty of netsuke that have been passed down since the Edo period, and conveys the depth of history and culture that resides in the intricate shapes. A museum where a big world spreads out inside small things.

Fushimi Inari Shrine

Approximately 14 minutes by train

A mysterious approach with a thousand torii gates. It has been revered since ancient times as the god of bountiful harvests and prosperous business, and the shrine buildings spread out at the foot of Mt. Inari are a sacred place where the brightness of the vermilion paint and the silence intersect. Thousands of wishes are put here.

Nijo Castle

Approximately 20 minutes by train

A world heritage site that conveys the majesty of Tokugawa to this day. The magnificent Karamon gate, the glittering Ninomaru Palace, and the tranquil garden witnessed the prosperity and end of the Edo period. Many historical decisions are carved into the walls of this castle.

Shimogamo Shrine

Approximately 28 minutes by train

An old shrine surrounded by an eternal forest. This shrine, which enshrines the gods of Kamo, has a history of 1,300 years and has a clear flow of water. The Tadasu Forest that surrounds the shrine grounds continues to quietly watch over the origins of Kyoto's history.
